After Care

After Care

Some best practices to follow to get the most out of your wax!

So you just got waxed - now what?

For the first 24 hours after getting waxed you should not:

  • go swimming (pool or ocean)

  • go tanning/sunbathing

  • get in a jacuzzi or sauna

  • do a strenuous workout (walking the dog is fine, but please do not go to spin class/hot yoga/run 6 miles). You want to avoid stressing your skin out and exposing your freshly waxed skin to germs or tons of sweat. It is also best to avoid other things that can cause sweating *ahem* if you know what I mean…

After care is done every day or every other day depending on your skin sensitivity level and your hair growth rate.

After the first few days from your wax you’ll want to start getting in the habit of exfoliating your skin to prevent ingrown hairs. This can be exfoliating gloves or loofah in the shower with your normal shower gel. If you know you are already prone to ingrown hairs you may want to add in an after waxing serum that is formulated specifically for after waxing to help reduce ingrown hairs. This is something I have on hand in the studio for sale should you need it.

You can use lotions/oils to hydrate your skin, however I’d recommend avoiding anything you’ve never used before until about 3 days after your wax. You want to give your skin a chance to reset before adding anything new to your routine. It’s also best to avoid anything that is highly scented.
